Anonymous asked: Questions!: What are some good labels... maybe, newer/obscure ones to check out? I'm into lots of Black, Doom & Sludge kind of shit, some Death & Thrash but not too much though. Are you at all into reading; I think, it's (slowly) becoming like a lost art. Agree? If so, are you interested in the occult/"other philosophies"? If so, what are some good books then?
Look into Fallen Empire, Eternal Warfare, Vault of Dried Bones, Exitium Productions, and Baitin’ The Trap! I’m a voracious reader and buy books constantly, but am not really interested in occult/philosophy stuff. I mostly read war history, political texts, and biographies :)
justingonyea asked: I enjoyed your contributions to the NPR year end piece! I particularly liked the bit about the current lack of effort to seek out new music. I really see this as a trend in all who "enjoy" music and not just those in journalism. Isn't it funny that now, when everything is at your fingertips with the internet and the days of flipping through records at a store are all but gone, people just don't seem to look beyond what is right in front of them.
Hey, thank you! I couldn’t agree more - there’s no excuse for laziness and apathy.
Anonymous asked: Favourite one man [black] metalist(s)? Mine, currently, are Panopticon & Leviathan?
Panopticon’s an excellent one. Sargeist will always have a big chunk of my heart, and I’ve been freaking out over Fever Nest: fevernest.bandcamp.com
Anonymous asked: Do you like the chilean Force of Darkness?
Yeah! Their self-titled rules.
One of my Twitter followers compiled a list of all the Bandcamp links I’ve posted in the last who knows how long. All I do on Twitter is complain about the stupid things publicists send me and excitedly post links to rad music, so if you feel like you need more of that in your life - @grimkim.
